How to create your account
Creating an account on Next Chapters is designed to be straightforward so you can begin using the platform with minimal friction. Signing up does not require a credit card or any payment information if you are creating a free account or using a free trial coupon. Payment details are only collected on our payment processing partner’s page when you choose to pay for a subscription or other services.
To begin, you can either select the Join Now button in the site’s navigation or visit books.nextchapters.com/register directly to create an account.
Step one: Enter your account details
The first screen collects the basic information needed to create your account. You will be asked to enter your name, email address, and zip code. The name entered here should be your real name. If you plan to write under a pseudonym, you can set that later in your profile.
After submitting this information, you will move to the next step of the sign up process.
Step two: Approve the Terms of Service
The second screen asks you to review and approve the Terms of Service. These terms explain how the platform works, what is expected of users, and how content is handled within Next Chapters.
You must approve the Terms of Service in order to continue.
Step three: Approve the Author Payment Policy
The third screen asks you to review and approve the Author Payment Policy. This policy explains how Next Chapters handles payment and revenue sharing for books written through community and collaborative features on the platform.
Accepting this policy does not give Next Chapters ownership of your writing. Any book you write on your own, including private books or books you write with invited collaborators, remains entirely yours. The Author Payment Policy exists to clearly define how proceeds are handled when a book is written by multiple contributors and published as a shared project.
Approval of this policy is a required part of creating an account.
Accessing the platform
After approving both the Terms of Service and the Author Payment Policy, your account is created and you are taken to your dashboard.
You will be notified to verify your email address. Email verification is required in order to access the tools and content of the platform, and completing this step helps ensure your account remains secure and fully functional. You may also find several tools and features of the Next Chapters writing platform disabled until you verify your email address.
Once inside the dashboard, you can begin creating a book, joining an existing project, or exploring the tools available to you.
