What happens to my books if I downgrade?
We recognize that circumstances sometimes change and you may need to adjust your membership plan. Downgrading your membership is a decision that might raise questions, particularly regarding the status of the books you've created during your time as a paid member. This article aims to clarify what happens to your books and access to certain features when you switch to a lower-tier membership or a free plan.
Your Books Remain Accessible
- Permanent Access to Created Books: First and foremost, it's important to understand that any books you've created while being a paid member of Next Chapters will always remain accessible to you, regardless of any changes in your membership status. This means you can read, write, and complete these books just as you always have.
- No Loss of Your Content: You will not lose any content you created from your books. All the plot notes, characters, chapters and edits you've made during your paid membership will be preserved intact. Your creative work remains your own, and downgrading your membership does not affect your ownership or access to this content.
- Ability to Continue Your Books: If you had created a book using premium tools on the Next Chapters platform and then downgrade your subscription, you will still have the ability to write chapters and continue your manuscript. You will not have access to the advanced tools designed to help and empower your writing, but you can still continue your story with limited tools as a free subscriber.
Changes in Access to Tools and Features
- Limited Access to Advanced Tools and Reports: While you retain access to your books, downgrading your membership means that certain advanced tools and features will no longer be available, such as several reporting tools. Our higher-tier memberships offer an array of exclusive tools designed to enhance your writing experience, including advanced editing tools, customizable templates, and more.
- Book Chat Powered Prompts and Assistance: As a paid member, you may have enjoyed access to our Book Chat tool, providing AI-enhanced prompts, muses and writing assistance. These features are tailored to aid in the creative process, offering suggestions, ideas, and writing support. Upon downgrading, you will no longer have access to these tools.
- Continued Basic Features: You will still have access to basic features available to free or lower-tier members. This includes basic writing tools, standard templates, and access to a community of readers and writers. You can also continue to create new community books and contribute chapters to them, but with the functionalities available at your new membership level.
Making the Transition
- Review Your Membership Options: Before downgrading, we recommend reviewing the features and tools available at different membership levels. This will help you understand what changes to expect and how they might impact your writing experience.
- Downgrade When Ready: If you decide to proceed with downgrading, you can do so through the 'My Account' section on our website. The process is straightforward and can be reversed should you decide to upgrade again in the future.
At Next Chapters, we value your creative journey and strive to provide options that cater to your changing needs. Downgrading your membership does not mean losing the valuable work you've created; your books remain yours, fully accessible. While you will experience a change in the availability of certain advanced tools and features, you will continue to be part of our vibrant community of readers and writers. Should you have any questions or need assistance, our support team is always here to help.
